Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ College Therapy

What is therapy for college students?

Therapy for college students provides a confidential space to explore the challenges of young adulthood from managing stress and anxiety to adjusting to independence, relationships, and academic demands. Sessions are tailored to help students gain a better understanding of themselves and their experiences, build coping skills, improve focus, and develop emotional resilience.

What issues do you help college students with?

We support students facing academic stress, anxiety, depression, perfectionism, relationship difficulties, identity exploration, and life transitions. Therapy can also help with focus and attention challenges (including ADHD) and balancing academic and personal goals.

How can therapy help college students succeed?

Therapy offers tools to manage stress, regulate emotions, and strengthen time management and self-care habits. Students often find that therapy not only improves their mental health but also enhances academic performance, relationship quality, and overall quality of life.

Do you offer telehealth sessions for students attending college out of state?

Yes. We provide telehealth therapy for students located in Florida, Nebraska, and all PSYPACT participating states. This makes it easy to continue therapy consistently, even if you attend college outside of Naples or travel between semesters.

Is telehealth therapy effective for college students?

Yes. Online therapy is a flexible, private, and effective way for college students to access care. Many young adults find it easier to open up and maintain consistent sessions online, especially with busy class schedules or while living away from home.

How do I know if I need therapy in college?

You may benefit from therapy if you feel overwhelmed, anxious, lonely, or unmotivated, or if you’re struggling to manage academic pressure and relationships. Therapy provides guidance and perspective to help you regain balance and confidence.

Can therapy help with academic or attention issues?

Absolutely. Therapy can help address focus, motivation, procrastination, and executive functioning difficulties that often arise in college. If needed, we can also conduct a psychological or ADHD evaluation to better understand your learning style and support needs.

How often do college students typically attend therapy?

Most college students attend weekly or biweekly sessions, depending on their goals and availability. We work together to create a schedule that supports progress while fitting into your academic routine.

Is therapy confidential for college students?

Yes. Therapy sessions are completely confidential, meaning that what you share stays private. We only share information with others (such as parents or universities) if you provide written consent or if there is a safety concern.

How can I start therapy as a college student?

You can schedule a telehealth or in-person session by contacting us through our website or calling the office directly. We’ll discuss your current situation, explain how therapy works, and match you with the right approach for your goals and comfort level.
